Festival Of Lights, Craft Fair, a huge success!
Thank you to the parent group and the entire community of York for a successful event. Once again, the gym and cafeteria were filled with talented artists selling goods. It was excitng to see so many students selling their own products as well. The kids corner, where many young children secretly shopped for family members, was a big hit! I'm sure parents, siblings, and extended family will be in awe at the wonderful surprises awaiting them! It was heartwarming to see children as young as two and as old as middle school shopping for their loved ones. It's exciting to share that the craft fiar raised $6,000 that will be deposited into the parent group account to fund projects not supported by the school budget. A great deal of work went into the success and I want to personally thank the many families that helped volunteer at the event, bake items to be sold, donate items to the raffle and the many many hours that went into prepartion for this large event. A special thank you to our parent group President, Linnea Clary for a huge success!
Under the StarsFirst grade students experienced night life under the stars with the support of scientist Scott Negely from Mainely Stars.
Students loved experiencing taking off thier shoes and entering the pitch black planatarium. Scott Negley told stories of shooting stars, constellations and other astronomical facts that aligns well with the study children are doing in their classrooms. |
