This time of the year, everyone begins to get busy. Teachers are thinking about the curriculum that is left to be learned, field trips are taking place, students are participating in outdoor sports and activities, parents are driving children to and from after school events, and administrators are thinking about placement and hiring new staff. I would like to take a moment to recognize the staff that will be retiring at the end of this school year. Glenna Kimball, kindergarten teacher, Pam Audet, second grade teacher, and Diana Russo, kindergarten educational technician, have all served a combined 83 years in education! Much of this time was spent supporting young children in York, Maine! What a gift they have given! I'm sure you will join me in wishing them well in their next endeavor.
We have hired Emma Moody, current second grade teacher, to fill the kindergarten position. We are thrilled to bring her early childhood experience to the existing strong kindergarten team here at Village! Interviews will occur in the next few weeks for the kindergarten educational technician position.
Please note that an electronic letter came home yesterday from Dr. Dunn, our Superintendent, in regards to providing feedback to all staff members in the district through surveys. Please note the surveys will stay open for two weeks and we value the input we receive from families. Please take the time to share our strengths as well as areas needed for improvement, so the staff can reflect and set goals for the future.
As the placement process begins, I want to assure each family that teachers play an important role in making decisions about how to best balance classrooms for the following year. A letter went home to all families in March announcing that all first grade students will be moving to CRES for second grade next year. We are planning for all first and second grade children to take a bus ride over to CRES on Friday, June 17th to meet their new teacher and classmates. It is an exciting time for all, but for now....we try to keep as much consistency in children's schedules and focus on the good work that has yet to be accomplished this school year!
Thank you for all your continued support,
Thank you,
April Noble, Principal
