Welcome to Village Elementary School!
Two days in and things are going smoothly in the classrooms and hallways at VES! Each year it amazes me how quickly students learn procedures and practices in the classroom, in hallways, on playgrounds and in the cafeteria. With explicit guided practice from all staff, students quickly learn expectations. It is evident children are feeling welcome and safe here at VES. The staff appreciates the support you are giving your child at home by reading newsletters and emails and establishing routines that support your child's learning here at school. I wanted to share a few reminders with families.
As indicated in Dr. Dunn's letter yesterday, we are keeping a watchful eye on the bus routes as the first days of school bugs get ironed out. If things continue to be challenging we will look for resolutions. I thank you all for your patience as our goal is to get every child home safely. April Noble, Principal, VES |
Welcome from the volunteer office!
The York Schools’ Volunteer Program is looking forward to another wonderful year of volunteers helping in our schools! Our students can greatly benefit from your involvement and contributions throughout the year. There are many ways to get involved including classroom support, school-wide events and joining your parent group. For all new grandparent volunteers, please contact our office at 351-3016 or
email [email protected] for more information on volunteering in your grandchild’s classroom.
A few reminders:
Please contact your child’s homeroom teacher directly if you would like to volunteer in the classroom. We ask all parent volunteers to please review our volunteer handbook on our website before you begin volunteering at your child’s school. Our Volunteer website
can be found under ‘Quicklinks’ on the left hand side of the VES website. Always remember to sign in and out when volunteering in the buildings. Last year our amazing volunteers gave 29,000 volunteer hours to various projects and classroom support.
Have a great year. We look forward to working with all if you!
