Happy Spring! Hopefully with the official change of the season comes some warmer weather and no more surprise storms.
This year, the elementary schools moved from trimester reporting to quarterly. The close of the third quarter was Friday, April 1st. If you have questions or concerns about your child’s social or emotional growth, you may choose to discuss them at conferences or schedule another time to discuss this with your child’s teacher as first and second grade conferences are student involved. This quarter, progress will be discussed at conferences, not through a report card. A final graded report card will be sent home at the end of the school year.
Some families will receive letters about attendance and tardiness. Letters were sent to families when the children were absent or tardy more than 10% of the quarter. These letters serve as a reference to you and your child. I do encourage you to keep sick children home, but want to reiterate how essential it is to be in school when your children are healthy. Many families choose to take vacations during school time and this along with sick day absences have led to a high percentage of missed days within a quarter. I ask that you make attendance a priority while allowing your child the days necessary to recuperate from illnesses.
Thank you,
April Noble, Principal

VES OMERS - SUPER PROBLEM SOLVERS!
Village Elementary School had four Odyssey of the Mind teams this year - the most ever! These teams did a great job working together to create performances showcasing their solutions to some very complex problems. The student team members had to create everything for their performances: scripts, costumes, props, backdrops. It is a very big accomplishment, and they should all be very proud. The teams included: Stir the Pot (1) - coached by Britton Garon, Declan , Carmela , Gabby , and Henry. Stir the Pot (2) - coached by Michael Kumin and Holly Moon, Oliver, Sofie, Lucas, and Lilly. No-Cycle Recycle - coached by Robyn Estes and Luke Zuckerman, Jack, Adrianna, Max, Lucia, Willow, Madelyn, and Gabriel. Something Fishy - coached by Rick Clarke and Sarah Huber, Fiona, Marshall, Virginia, Isaac, Boden, Quintan, and Mark. |
Scholastic Book Fair Thank You
The VES librarians would like to thank all the families who made our Scholastic Book Fair a great success. We are planning on using the proceeds for books and library progamming. It is such an exciting time for children and we always want to encourage the love of books. We could not have done it without the help of the many volunteers who came it to work. You are the best!!
